TANANEI STORY
Tananei was born from a story of land, hands, and heart. It was 1861 when this traditional farmhouse first came to life, surrounded by hectares of olive groves that for generations had nourished families and embodied the most authentic soul of Tuscany. Over time, silence replaced voices, and both the house and its olive trees were slowly left to the passing of years.When we received the keys to Tananei, we didn’t see crumbling walls in need of repair, but a dream waiting to be reborn. Thus began a long journey of restoration, inside and out, shaped by dedication, hard work, and passion. A shared effort, where every member of our family contributed directly, with their own hands, to bring this ancient Tuscan home back to life. Seeing Tananei become habitable again was deeply rewarding. But the greatest joy came in 2015, when we finally opened our doors as an Agriturismo, welcoming guests for overnight stays, dining experiences, and the discovery of our Extra Virgin Olive Oil. My passion for the olive tree—an iconic symbol of Tuscany—led me to become a Nationally Certified Extra Virgin Olive Oil Taster, a path that allowed me to gain the expertise needed not only to produce, but also to recognize olive oils of exceptional quality.
MY STORY
My name is David.
I was born and raised in Montecatini Terme, in the heart of Tuscany. Driven by determination and a lifelong passion for challenges, I pursued a degree in Computer Science in Pisa, followed by an MBA with top honors at the Polytechnic University of Milan. These experiences opened the door to a rewarding international managerial career, allowing me to hold executive roles within multinational companies across diverse industries.
Everything changed the moment me and my wife Giorgia purchased Podere Tananei, in 2014, nestled in my native land. That encounter reignited my love for the countryside—its rhythms, its flavors, and its deeply rooted traditions. It was love at first sight, a true return to my origins.
OUR DREAMS COME TRUE
With Tananei, we fulfilled two important dreams. The first: restoring neglected olive groves, protecting our beloved land from abandonment and giving it a future once again. The second: producing an exceptionally High-Quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil and, among the first in this area, sharing a true olive oil culture—telling the story, value, and soul of one of Tuscany’s most iconic traditions.Today, Tananei is also a place of connection. Each year we welcome guests from all over the world curious, mindful travelers eager to discover our story, the story of our land, and its products. With some of them, something even more meaningful has grown over time: friendship.
And perhaps this is our greatest reward to know that those who come to Tananei leave not only with a memory, but with a piece of our story in their hearts.
… and then there is Dog. Abandoned as a puppy, rescued from a shelter, and part of our family since he was just three months old. Dog is the guardian of Tananei: he knows every corner, every scent of the estate, and with his gentle, playful nature, he makes every stay even more special.
